The Millennium Band would like to welcome and introduce Mr. Jeff Morin, this semester’s Senior Intern from Stetson University! Please see the introduction below to get to know Mr. Morin:

Greetings!

My name is Jeff Morin and I am interning this semester with Mr. Langston in the band room of Millennium Middle School. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and tell you a little about me.

I’m a Florida native, having grown up on Merritt Island in Brevard County. After graduating from Merritt Island High School, I served in the United States Air Force for 5 years. I returned to Merritt Island to manage my family’s business; a scuba diving retail and training centre. During that time, I volunteered at my local middle school and realized that not only had I always been passionate about music, but I also had developed a passion for teaching. I decided to enroll in college to pursue that passion. I graduated from Brevard Community College (now Eastern Florida State College) with an Associate in Arts and was then accepted into the School of Music at Stetson University. This December, I will graduate with my Bachelor of Music Education.

My primary instrument is the Saxophone. My hobbies include scuba diving, the martial arts, and I am a huge fan of the Orlando Magic. My wife, Becky, is a 1st grade teacher at Citrus Grove Elementary School in Deland. We don’t have any children of our own (yet!) but we consider our dog and cat our kids!

I believe it is important for music to be experienced, not just played or listened to. Some of the most profound and moving experiences of my life have been from playing music within an ensemble and experiencing that music with my fellow musicians. That is one of my goals for your student; to experience the music, to learn how to become better musicians, and most of all to have fun doing it!

I thank you for the opportunity to learn with your children.

Sincerely,

Jeff Morin, Intern
Stetson University
